For their LEAP Chemistry project, D.C. Everest Senior High sophomores DuWayne Schubring, Gregg Schieffer, and Jonathan Hoersch looked into the development of photovoltaic (solar) cells. Through research and communication with industry experts, the three students wrote a procedure for the creation of photovoltaic cells, and successfully produced twelve working cells in their own high school laboratory. They presented their work at the ACS Convention in Milwaukee on June 2nd, 1998.
